Ludo: how a round works

Open Ludo, check the instructions and begin a round. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Read the objective before making your first input. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.

One thing to notice as you play

Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your objective

Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Try to explain the aim in your own words.

How to proceed

  1. Roll six to leave the yard.
  2. Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
  3. Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
  4. Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.

How to use the controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

Work through an example

A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Read the matching step again.

Notice this detail

Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart.
